hi, folks!

i'm going to take a moment to apologize for the horrendously long amount of time i've taken off from this blog. i guess, at the bottom of it all, i've just been self-consious and sad, and it's affected my work in a really negative way. i'm trying to get back into the swing of things, so posts should be more regular now.

i spent the day today driving out to see some nature with my parents and my dog, and before the sun set, i snapped some quick shots out in a nearby neighborhood of what i wore today. the past couple of days have seen wisconsin's first actually hot days of the year, and i'm so grateful. i thrive on that. i still need to get back to dressing in a way that makes me happy, though-- my body's changed a little, and it's made me uncomfortable with most of my clothes, so i have to revamp how i think.

i'm listening to a lot of vampire weekend as of late, to match the weather and also because i have tickets to see them at the end of summer, so here's a little of their new stuff to tide over until next time!

candylash.

so sorry for the half-month hiatus! i've been wrapped up in a lot of different events. lately, things at school haven't been going great-- school itself was all right, but life was getting in the way, so i'm currently at home and will be for a bit of time, taking a break.

i think a lot of people misunderstand what's going on, so at the bottom of it all, i feel it's important for me to say that i'm trying to rebuild my health, mental and otherwise. past that, it really isn't anyone's business except that i'm taking care of myself right now!

anyway, here are some shots from the past couple of weeks and a few of my outfit from earlier today. snow is still on the ground here, so i envy those in the bay area right now. it was seventy-five fahrenheit there the past day! i guess my current style is mainly what i'd be wearing if i were still in california. black, to match my mood and obviously my soul, with my new favorite offensive hat. watch out, thirteen-year-old goths. i'm a fake-smiling, sulking mess of quarter-life crisis just waiting to stomp all over your favorite hot topic tee, your cross necklaces, and your black lipstick with my false eyelashes and dangerously spiky disco creepers holding on till the very end.

i recently replaced a couple of things in my wardrobe with new staples in my everyday get-up: my wallet and my septum ring. metallic shine with one, pitch black with the other. i had to show them off here. also, i think i should explain how i've started to morph away from the black-and-white theme before i've even really photographed it for a style post. there are parts of me that are always into black and white, but i'm integrating some curious candy-raver clothes that are making little blips of my wardrobe look like bubble yum aliens are taking over my shopping sprees.

the tumblr hipster community would just eat these pieces up, eh?

i'm just letting my imagination run a little bit to try and save myself from that feeling that nothing is coming of my life and that i'll never achieve anything. good ol' thoughts like this have been invading my mindspace, and i'm totally ready to be rid of it. i'm ready to go and laugh some and sleep enough and live a life where i'm not obsessed with what's hurt me for years of my life!

on a brighter note, i'm modeling for my boyfriend's sister tomorrow! it's going to be an all-day thing, and i'm scared and excited. i'll hopefully post more about that soon.

till next time!

the chill and the chillwave.

i've been playing a lot of really laid-back music, and i think it's been inadvertently inspiring my wardrobe as of late: i've been trading the extravagance on most days in favor of simple bottoms and tops, mostly black and white, which just happens to coincide with the spring trend of black and white 4eva. i like a more toned-down version of the desaturation, though, with one piece of white and one piece of black, rather than mixing stripes with checkerboards with plaids and so on. today, though, i mixed the forever-needed black with a plum topshop crop.

also, i have a few shots of my new winter coat, although they're not the clearest to really show off how amazing this zara piece is-- i'll be sure to take some more detailed photos soon. it basically makes me look like i'm from the matrix. cue slow-motion-backbend shots.

my new favorite thing, though, is this pair of black american apparel riding pants. complete with padding on the inside of the knees, these pants are versatile, sleek, flattering, and best of all, comfortable! i've worn them probably four days out of the past week, which is probably a record for me. i keep planning outfits with these pretty babies. they're a dream piece.

also, crop tops, whether form-fitting or loose, are still at the top of my fashion list. they appeared on the runway for last spring/summer, but i feel like they're still in full swing. it's probably my penchant for matching with high-waisted things, but i'm in love. they're simple and chic, and they also show a glimpse of unexpected skin in a way that isn't so over-the-top for my latest interests.

i did just find a cheap pair of clear spiked creepers, though, so. i guess my closet just jumps all over the place.

the creepy statue head is a piece on campus that i love-- i've always wanted to shoot with it, and i finally found a quiet time to do it.

lastly, the messenger bag tucked tightly to my side is borrowed from my roommate-- she's brilliant with little accessories and things when i just can't find the perfect match to top off an outfit-- and i've used it all this weekend. of course, come tomorrow, it's back to the old school backpack routine, but it's been nice to use a cute little satchel for a while.

p.s. i've been paying almost zero attention to fashion week and feeling distanced from so many trends, so i'll be looking into that and bringing things up as it feels fit.

more to come soon,
